Client profile

Today marks the launch of Workspaces — a new way to organize and collaborate on research in UpCodes. Workspaces separate your private and team projects for easier organization and offer greater control over project permissions, so you can share information with the right users at the right time.

Why Workspaces?

We know that there isn’t a one-size-fits-all project template. As jurisdictions and typologies change, you need more flexibility in managing research. Sometimes, you need to curate research privately before sharing it with the broader team. Other times, you need to make your research visible but control who can view and edit it within a project. Workspaces let you tailor your project workflows without bogging down your processes.

Clear project organization

Workspaces neatly divide up your private and shared projects. At a glance, you’ll be able to tell what’s personal and what’s collaborative with two distinct working areas:

  1. My Workspace: Your private space for personal research and projects that’s only visible to you.
  2. Team Workspace: The collaborative hub where your team's shared projects live.

When you create a project, it's automatically placed in the appropriate Workspace depending on your project permissions. Only administrators or designated Workspace editors can create projects in shared Workspaces, so your team can standardize project naming and avoid duplicates.

Tailored project permissions

Keeping projects streamlined requires airtight permissions. Administrators and Workspaces editors can control visibility in Team Workspaces at granular levels with these new project permission settings:

  • Private: projects are only visible to members of your team by invitation.
  • Visible (coming soon): projects are visible to your team, but access is granted upon request.
  • Editable: projects are visible to everyone on your team, and anyone can join without additional approvals.

How to get started

Workspaces are currently available for all Essentials and Professional subscribers. You can explore this new feature with a free two-week trial, or get a demo from one of our product experts.

FAQs

Can I use Workspaces as an individual user?

If you only have a single user in your account, your projects will be saved to your private Workspace by default. We encourage you to invite teammates to get the full value of Workspaces and UpCodes collaboration features.

Can you create multiple Workspaces within UpCodes?

You can’t create multiple Workspaces within UpCodes, but we’re working on rolling out this feature soon.

What happens if I share a project within my Workspace; where will the project show up?

If you share a private project with a teammate, it will show up in the recipient’s personal Workspace with a description of who originally shared it.
